Herd Sires

The bull that is used as your herd sire makes a huge impact on your program.  He accounts for half of the genetics in your entire calf crop.  Make sure that good genetics are playing a role in your herd sire selection.
Last year we had a slew of
High Caliber SRC calves.  We have been very pleased with them.  High Caliber is a bull we own in partnership with Mike MacLeod of Split Rock Cedar Ranch.  High Caliber is Top Caliber x NN Sarita, a WS Jamakizm daughter.  Sarita was a full sister to NN Texas Sunset, a cow we were able to acquire in 2016.
For 2017, we are looking forward to our Tuff Thunderbolt SRC calves.  Thunderbolt is a Cowboy Tuff Chex x 7LS Miss Gambler.  We should see these calved starting in May.

Bull Calves and Steers

Most of our bull calves are steered at a young age.  If you see a bull calf that you are interested in, let us know and we can hold off on steering him.  While there is a chance that we are steering a champion bull, the fact of the matter is that less than one in 100 bull calves will be rock stars.  Our steers will either end up as trophy steers or will go into our meat program.
